Two young inspiring men from Immanuuel UCC in Shillington just had a sock drive. Their goal was 250 pair. They were around 900+ when Reverend Meg and I announced on their Facebook page that Blankets of Hope donated 300 pair to their sock drive which took their total to over 1,000 pairs of socks. Not that I need any reminders but days like today still motivate me more then I already am when it comes to what Blankets of Hope-Berks is truly about. I get on Facebook today and Jeff Laylon shared a post about Threads of Change. Curious, I click on the link to see what this organization does. They help local foster children. Hmm...Light bulb moment(I get a few a year). I message them asking to have them call me. Tonight while at pool, Angelic Horne calls & since I was not shooting yet, I answered. We both do our introductions. This was an easy decision to make & one I really dislike seeing. Children in the foster care system being treated like garbage. Rob Chasteen Scheer can certainly share how this system fails these children.
I am certain that most of us take lots of things for granted. In my eyes, no child should ever be without a blanket!
At the end of our conversation, I mentioned that BOH will send 48 baby blue & 48 baby pink 30" x 40" baby blankets. We will also send them 48 purple & 48 royal 50" x 60" standard throw blankets. I am placing the order after this post and these blankets will arrive via UPS next Tues or Wed.

Yesterday Blankets of Hope-Berks received a check from Salem UCC of Moorestown(Bath, PA) Sunday School. A total surprise! Their Sunday school children had a Lenten project and they chose BOH. Since they are located in Northhampton County, I decided to do some research to see if I could find an organization in their area that might be able to use the blankets. I found the homeless shelter, Safe Harbor Easton. Amazing how things work because when I called them, they mentioned that they posted a wish list at the end of March asking for fleece blankets.
BOH ordered 96 blankets today which will arrive on Tues. BOH has now donated over 25,000 blankets since Jan 2012.

Every person deserves to feel Secure, to be Warm and to have HOPE! #blanketsofhope, #blanketsofhopeberks, #bcps, #lifeimprovementWe are happy to annouce that Marc J. Goldstein is receiving the Paul J. Hoh Life Improvement Award for his dedication and passion for improving lives. Through his organization, Blankets of Hope, Marc has donated over 1,000 beautiful fleece blankets to individuals and families that we are serving through our Reentry and Family Connections programs. This gift of a warm, soft blanket has brought hope and joy to so many at a time of need. Marc volunteered to join us at our annual Care & Share Holiday party at West Lawn United Methodist Church where he personally handed out blankets to everyone, young and old, who attended the special celebration. It was amazing to see the joy it brought to the children and their parents. He founded Blankets of Hope on the belief that “Every person deserves to feel Secure, to be Warm and to have HOPE!” Thank you for serving countless individuals in our community! #2018LifeImprovementAwardsBreakfast To register, visit www.berksconnections.org/awards-breakfast...
